Regional deployments at forefront of telecoms evolution

ZTE Corporation, the fastest growing global provider of telecommunications equipment and network solutions, today announced that it has become the leading provider of CDMA and related technologies to Central Asia. As the number of regional deployments climb, ZTE continues to fulfill its role of innovating to create sustainable, future-proofed telecoms frameworks that offer scalability and greatly improved communications access for end-users. ZTE now has deployments and on-going projects in more than seven Central Asian countries including Russia and its native China.

In the past year alone, ZTE has brought some of the world´s most advanced telecommunications technology to the region, working on UMTS and NGN projects for Indigo, Tajikistan and Tajiktelecom respectively as well as pre-WiMAX and CDMA projects in Pakistan and Uzbekistan. Most recently, as the first vendor with the capability to successfully deploy CDMA2000 solutions with EV-DO Rev. A for commercial use globally, ZTE announced the world´s first commercial contract for construction of a CDMA2000 EV-DO Rev. A network for Mongolia´s largest CDMA mobile operator Skytel.

R&D continues to play a crucial role in helping ZTE to maintain its strong position with operators and grow its market share accordingly. As testament to this, adoption of ZTE technology in Central Asia is distinguished by being some of the first to appear on the global stage, unmatched by other vendors who have no comparative offering on their product roadmap.

There will be a special focus on Central Asia in China this month when six Presidents from the member states of the SCO (Shanghai Cooperation Organization) - China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan - visit the city to attend the 2006 SCO Summit for regional development. Shanghai is also the site of a ZTE R&D facility.
