Analyst Predicts Service Providers to Set Investment Priority on NGHLR

30 September 2009, Shenzhen, ChinaZTE Corporation (“ZTE”) (H share stock code: 0763.HK / A share stock code: 000063.SZ), a leading global provider of telecommunications equipment and network solutions, was today identified as the top equipment provider for the global UDC/NGHLR market by Frost & Sullivan, a leading research and consultancy firm. UDC/NGHLR solves a growing market problem of distributed storage and inconsistency of user data, and is being explored and deployed by operators worldwide. Improving subscriber insight is a priority for 87% of operators.

In its latest research report, “Global UDC Industry Analysis,” Frost & Sullivan highlighted that due to “the cost-effective solution and huge subscriber base in emerging areas, ZTE had grown rapidly to justify its markedness in the UDC/NGHLR market.” ZTE holds more than 20% of the global UDC/NGHLR subscriber base, ranking the first in global UDC/NGHLR market.

The report further highlights the trend of migration from traditional HLR to NGHLR applications for subscriber data management. Frost & Sullivan predicts that many operators will increase UDC/NGHLR spending and integrate the service themselves on the background of the economic resuscitation and OPEX/CAPEX improvement. While CAPEX budgets are being lowered, spending on UDC solutions will increase from 2008 to 2010.

Worldwide UDC software and integration services revenue will grow at a rapid compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 128.7 percent from 2008 to 2013, reaching $875 million in 2013, according to Frost & Sullivan.

The report also stresses that equipment providers as well as operators need to adopt the UDC open architecture and business model to mitigate potential for bottlenecks. ZTE’s UDC/NGHLR solutions support multi-network and multi-service integration and have been designed to evolve, representing a significant architectural achievement in the global UDC/NGHLR industry. As one of the founders of UDC/NGHLR technology and the key member in 3GPP UDC working group, ZTE leads the market in design and deployment.
